JANUARY
Meet & Greet TESSA . . .
who was a new visitor at our 2008 Christmas Stepper's Set.  She takes stepping lessons at the Center.  The only problem she mentioned is that the parking lot could be a little bigger.   But other than that she's very happy with the Atlas Center.
Meet & Greet LUCINDA . . .
She has been coming to the Atlas Center for 6 years and is 76 years old.  She takes the Spanish classes and she enjoys short story writing.  She spends 3 days a week working out in the gym and thinks the trips are GREAT!

FEBRUARY
MEET & GREET ORA . . .
According to Ora, "I like everything about the Atlas Center, the staff, the other seniors, the classes and parties. The staff here is just great!"
 
MEET & GREET . . .
66 year old Michael has been on the Steppers Set Committee at the Atlas Center for the last 5 years.  He says the center is a wonderful place to come and enjoy yourself.  Michael loves to dance and play cards.  He went to DuSable High School & Northwestern University and is an avid sportsman.  Michael also retired from the VA after 25 years of service.
 

MARCH
MEET & GREET EVELYN . . .
Evelyn is 68 years old and the Chairperson of the Atlas Center Steppers Set Committee.  She has been visiting the Atlas Center for 6 years joining in the Art Classes.  She became a featured artist and has had 2 solo art shows.  She is on the Mayor's Advisory Board for Seniors, downtown in Chicago. We can thank Evelyn for decorating the Center and the Gift Shop.
 
MEET & GREET BERTRAM . . .
69 year old Bertram is also a member of the Steppers Set Committee and has been at the Center for 5 years.  He is a DuSable '59 graduate, has a BA from North Eastern University and a Masters from Northern Illinois.  He's a frat brother with Kappa Alpha Psi.  In 1965 Bertram retired after, 21 years with CTA, working as an EEO Contract Compliance Coordinator.

 

APRIL
MEET & GREET BRENETTE . . .
Brenette has been a member of the Steppers Set Committee and Advisory Council Board for the past 4 years, and has been coming to the Atlas Center for 6 years in all.  She told us "It is so relaxing.  I love the exercising, dancing and volunteering, it is wonderful and has helped me a lot."  She works with the seniors some times 7 days a week. Be sure to say "Hello" to Brenette!
 
MEET & GREET FREDDIE . . .
85 year old Freddie has been visiting the Atlas Center for 4 years at about 3 days a week.  He comes for lunches, exercise, socializing and the parties.  He was in the Army in New Guinea and the National Guard.  He was a member of the Teamsters and spent 38 years working with the city .   Be sure to say "Hello" to Freddie!

 

MAY
MEET & GREET MARSHALL . . .
Marshall has been coming to the Atlas Center for 2 years now. He's proud to say that he is 66 years old and still steppin' and was a steppin' instructor at the center for awhile. He's overcome 5 major knee surgeries and 16 years ago had a knee replacement but it didn't stop him from steppin'. He went to Oakland Elementary, Phillips High, University of Illinois and then graduated from the Police Training Institute. Be sure to say hello to Marshall!
 
MEET & GREET LENA . . .
Lena has spent 4 years visiting the Atlas Center.  She works out 3 days a week, does steppin classes, crochets and is a seamstress and clothing designer.  She told us that the Atlas Center has a wonderful and mature but youthful atmosphere.  She is proud of her good health and she was a graduate of Murphy High School in Jackson Mississippi.  Be sure to say "Hello" to Lena!

 

JUNE
MEET & GREET TAMARA . . .
Tamara has been visiting the Atlas Center for 12 years now and she told us that her age is "Cosmic & Eternal". She comes to teach Quilting and for the Cafe Society Discussions. She is a full time Artist and teaches Fiber Arts Design on Fridays @ 1pm as a volunteer. She is proud to say that she was the featured Artist at a large exhibit on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago at 3rd Presbyterian Church across from the Hancock Building. She researched and wrote the Chicago Bi-Lingual Project. Tamara is most proud of her Foreign language Students and their achievements. Let's everyone say "Hello" to Tamara when you see her at the Atlas Center.
 
MEET & GREET LONNIE . . .
Lonnie says he is 67 years old and has been coming to the Atlas Center for 5 years. He says he enjoys the parties, the nice atmosphere and the friendly people. Tho' he lives on the North side of Chicago, he comes to the South Side Atlas Center to take classes. Lonnie is now retired after working 42 years for the U.S. Postal Service.   Be sure to say "Hello" to Lonnie!

 

 
JULY
MEET & GREET MARIE . . .
Marie is 66 years old and is part of the Steppin' Committee, she is a CAG Member for the Atlas Center and has been coming to the Atlas Center for 5 years now. Marie helped Robin Tillotson start the Grand parents Food Drive.  She says "I have received so many Blessings in my life and I want to give to others so all will be Blessed!".   Shake Marie's hand next time you see her.
 
MEET & GREET CHRISTINE . . .
Christine says she is on the line dance committee at Atlas where she has visited for the past 4 years.  She loves everything about the center and she shares her beautiful smile with everyone there.  Christine says "she loves everyone, her mother, her kids and also herself".  Be sure to say "Hi" to Christine.
