ADVICE TO THE YOUNG  By Joseph Joiner

 Don't ever waste your time
Down on the shady street;
To yourself be ever so kind
Please direct your feet.
You are young. Life is so new
A brilliant mind to spare;
And a lots of good you can do
For those in need of care.
The world is waiting for you
To stand on higher ground;
The human race is pleading too
So please don't let us down.
Look to crest of the hill
Never to doubt our trust;
And let it be your humble will
Never abound of selfish lust.
For it will cause you to stray
To mines of false gold;
With a humble heart ever pray
The wishes of a youthful soul.

So Lovely by Baba Griot

I thought that I was
Dreaming, but it was
Real, you were an
Angel in disguise
From heaven, that had
Me hypnotized. You sat
By that window of sparkling
Sunlight that put you
On exhibit.  You were exposed
To the world, you were dressed
In your spring/summer
Eyes with a radiant smile,
That stimulated my mind, body and
Soul holistically.  Your presence
Put me in a state of ecstasy, you always
Set me free.  I am elated,
I am exhilarated. I am thrilled and
Filled with love for you.

LIFE’S FULFILLMENT By Joseph Jointer

It’s the little things that count
It’s not the giving of a great amount,
It’s the gift, not the price
It’s the little words that matter,
When it comes to mending a heart;
It’s the winning of a battle,
That proves you worthy of your part
It's not the crest of the hill
That’ll give you broadest view;
It's the mastering of will,
When you can rise to start anew.
It's not the race you can run
To add a star to your crown;
It’s the little deeds you've done
To help others make the round
So if you want to be a success
Now is the time the way to find;
If you really want to be blessed…
Build for others as you climb.

TREE IS UNKNOWN by the fruit it bears
By Joseph Jointer

A man is not known by the clothes he
wears, or the language he speaks;
But by the views he shares with the
Company he keeps.
It is not the places a man has been to
talk about to his friends.  It is not the
name he has gained in fame: It’s the
little things he likes to do and say
to help others as he passes this way!
If you can walk through the ice, sleet,
And the snow.  Then point out to
Others a better way to go—From The
Portals of your day…From Life’s
Sunset you can say: “I have walked along
the Road that leads to Success!”

Poet Lauriet Baba Griot
POETRY IS:

Poetry is universal that touches humanity with humility.

Poetry arouses the emotions that stimulate the imagination to  develop human experiences.

Poetry allows you to express your emotions, tell your stories, dramatize situations and share your thoughts with the world.

Poetry is theropuetic that massages the mind, body and soul holistically.

Poetry is a stress reducer.

Poetry is creative, powerful and explosive.

Poetry is the airplane of the mind for it takes us on an imagination flight.  We visit both strange and familiar places, and meet all kinds of people and catch glimpses of uncharted land.

INTRODUCING THE WORKS OF JOSEPH JOINTER
I AM YOUR BROTHER – MLK JR.

By Joseph Jointer

He was Black and Proud and he had always
been; I heard him say aloud: “Black
is the color of my skin! Those traits
inside of me should be your concern:
that part of me you cannot see is what
you should learn!”
Words of scorn they spoke to him—With
power from above he gave back to them
a heart of love: “I am Your Brother!”
Then he said with pride; and it was
very true…people standing side by
side.  He said it to them.  He said it
to me; and he said it to you!
Only for a short time did he reign.
Just as they did Jesus Christ;
They took the life of Martin Luther King.
“I am your Brother! Not by
creed, color or Name!  I am your Brother,
A Pilgrim of heartache and pain:
I have stood at the receiving End of the
White Man’s Sin!  I have seen blood
upon my Brother’s Face…I have been
kept in what the White Man called
My Place; and I have scars to show Just
What It Means To Be Black And Poor!”
